I went into the Absa branch at Longbeach Mall, Noordhoek and asked to have statements for the tax period 2013 (12 statements all told). They informed me that if I printed them out at the help desk I would be charged R33.00 per statement. However, if I printed it out at the self-help internet kiosk it would be R5.00 per statement. So I opted for the latter. Their computer was down so I couldn't use it. Then someone helped me by saying that she would try and retrieve them for me but it would take 24 hours to process archived statements. I told her that I didn't want printouts because I needed to upload the statements onto SARS e-filing, thinking that would not cost as much (getting e-statements is supposed to be free). She did what she promised and delivered the statements via e-mail on time but I see I have been charged R408.00 for the transaction which I feel is an outrage as they were sent via e-mail and not printed out at the bank. Please can Absa explain this cost to me. Thank you.
