Sa Underwriters
Contract Small Prings

In 2010 I sprained my ankle while running a race in Pta. Driving home the pain became much that upon dropping my sister I decided to stop and rest my feet a bit and apply some first-hand first aid but on leaving forgot my bag in which was my medical aid card among other things. Later in the day, it got worse and because of the pain asked my son to go and pick my bag up. He unfortunately got involved in an accident resulting in my car being a total write-off. At the time, I owed my bank over R120 000.00 and SAU dishonoured the claim completely in spite of the fact that I had held the policy with them sinceFebruary of 2007, initially paying well over R1300.00 per month in premiums and not one month ever missed.

Given that I had a medical condition, a situation of emergency, I had expected that although my son was not a recorded driver of the car at least a penalty fee be charged in the settlement, no consideration at all was done and the provider was happy to hide behind the small prints which are not usually explained thoroughly by their agents when selling these policies. It was an unfortunate situation that befell me which benefited SA Underwriters substantially at my peril.
