We had a car accident on our way to the airport. Alexander Forbes couldn't provide a courtesy car that day. We had to get to the airport, so we arranged for a courtesy car with the panel beater. When we returned the courtesy car to the panel beater we were told we had to pay R 3 303 (excluding the excess) because we exceeded the 100km per day limit on the courtesy car from the panel beater. Those extra km's could not be avoided. The accident happened in the middle of nowhere. We still had to get to the airport that day - 171km, drive back home that Sunday after our trip 332km away and return the courtesy car back during the week 259km away.
Also, we then had to return the courtesy car that was later provided by Alexander Forbes after 29 days because we had exceeded the "value allocated". It's been 2 months approaching 3 since the accident, our car is not yet ready and we don't know for how long still to go without a courtesy car. So much for Mercedez Benz Insurance!! We were advised that this was premium insurance. I've had far better experiences with at least two other insurers in the past and will never recommend Alexander Forbes to anyone.
