Vital information not correct - Available balance

Today for the 1st time in my life my card was declined. Thinking that it was a case of a damaged card chip I called into Standard Bank to make some queries. The consultant I spoke to suggested I go in branch & have my card checked but to also check my balance. Logging onto the Internet site revealed a financial nightmare. Overnight I had a negative balance. Calling in immediately to the customer centre again I was told that due to a "system error" some transactions debited over December did not go off when they were supposed to. Yet from the sms's and available balance amounts throughout December it showed that had been taken off. Basically throughout December my available balance sent to me was incorrect. Delayed debits of nearly R2300 were taken in one go leaving me with a negative. How does such a critical error happen? Then they still charged an honoring fee of R120... it's only because of the bank that that happened. I'm suppose to sign for a new work cell phone contract; how am I suppose to give a 3 month statement with that on it!! Unacceptable error! Thank you for starting my year of with me being poor. Changing banks... such errors cannot be tolerated.
