After 19 years of loyality, my claim for losing a diamond from my engagement ring was refuted. Admittedly I did not specify on the policy, I do have R67 000 ALL RISKS, however, this means absolutely Jack when claiming. I was told my ring was worn, yip, I've had for 34 years on my finger and it was next to my wedding ring, it would be worn. I was told that wear and tear was responsible. I was totally honest with the assessor who came out to interview me, tape recorded our conversation, still this meant nothing. I could have, which many people suggested I did, and said I took it off to wash my hands and I forgot it in a bathroom, but I didn't, I was always told honesty pays, obviously not. I will be cancelling my policy as soon as my car is repaired from the hail damage, which by the way, took 6 weeks to sort out, I still don't have a booking and I had to follow up constantly with the assessor and panel beater, shocking service after all these years and no, I have not continually claimed on the policy, one car and a gold bracelet in all those years of premiums!!!
