Linking a beneficiary is an impossible task @ absa

I went in to ABSA Linton Grange with my pensioner mother this morning. She wanted to link a beneficiary to her existing ABSA account. After waiting about 40 minutes in line, she submitted her ID and bank card. The transaction was then processed. When we got to the ATM, the beneficiary appeared on the list but the transaction wouldn't go through. Went back into the branch, where we were only told, after they had to look up the error code, that FICA documents are required. The assistant explained that a copy of the ID and proof of address was required. We went back home, collected the proof of address and I took it back to the same branch, together with the ID - only to be told that they now needed my mother's finger prints! This to link a beneficiary to an existing account??! Why wasn't she told this in the FIRST place? What a complete waste of time, inefficient, incompetent staff who just don't give a about wasting people's time. I am so glad I closed my own ABSA accounts a few years ago and don't have to put up with this anymore. Taking my mom to open an account at another bank tomorrow.
