First National Bank
Cell phone banking... what a disaster!

I decided to buy my electricity through FNB cellphone banking this month, so after battling through the process and purchasing R500.00 worth, I get two sms's, the one is to notify me that R500.00 has been deducted from my account, and the other tells me that the transaction failed and I should try again later. There is also an option that allows you to claim your free electricity, so I try that one; get sms to tell me the transaction was successful and I have claimed 00. kwh. I phone the help-line and am unable to verify my card number due to a technical problem. When I complain to the agent, he puts the phone down, by this time I am fuming, so I drive to the nearest branch which is 25km away and the lady there helps me get a token number for the R500.00 but tells me it is not possible to claim free electricity via cell phone banking, so why is there an option on the system? If you can't supply it, don't offer it.

The end-result is; I have wasted 10 minutes of my air time. I have wasted my petrol, driven 50km, got my blood pressure sky-high and wasted my entire afternoon and I could have driven just 2km to the Spaar and be back home in 15 minutes, how stupid of me.
