Standard Bank
Cannot Calculate, and Giving Pensioners Nothing

I went through the usual pain of speaking to the generic call centre that can never help me and was then transferred after a wait of some time to the forex division at Hyde Park. I was shocked to find out that Standard Bank pensioners no longer get discounts on buying notes. What is the incentive to even buy forex from Standard Bank then for a pensioner?

Then I spoke with someone who could not communicate or calculate properly. He could not decide if R65 was the minimum or maximum commission charge for buying forex. He also told me ridiculous things, such as 1, 85% of R11 500 is R65. I had to ask him several times to redo his calculations and had to ask him several times to clarify what the minimum and maximum amounts were. He also sometimes did calculations based on an amound of USD 5000 when I had just mentioned for the umpteenth time the figure of USD 1 000, or in Rand terms (based on an example exchange rate) R11 500.

Please teach the relevant staff member how to do calculations, and please tell your Marketing deoartment to wake up. They are as innovative as a brick lying in a hole. Also tell everyone to stop saying "How can I move you forward". This is irritating.
