A month later and nobody can help me

I am at my wits end!! I moved to the UK temporarily and decided to make the move a bit more permanent. I have no more use for my FNB current account and just wish for them to close it. First trouble was finding a number to call from overseas. I sent an email to the enquiries email address and it took 8 days to get me a number to call.

When I phoned the number they just said they cannot help me, I need to call another 086 or 087 number. I kept explaining to the guy that I cannot phone that number as I am in the UK. At one point he said I would then just have to go into my local branch!! Eventually I got transferred to someone else, but as it was 16:31 in SA, that person had probably gone home.

I then sent another email as I spent 45 minutes on the phone getting nowhere. This email was sent to FNB Table View on 22 October. I have since then asked 6 times for a follow up with not getting anywhere. I have tried phoning them, but after selecting the right option, the phone just rings and rings (this costs me money each time).

All I want is for my account to be closed. It has been a month since my original request - WHY does it take so long to get back to someone?
