Unauthorised Credit Check

I recieved an sms dated 15.11.2013 that reads "African Bank apologises for any delays with your recent credit application. Should you require any assistance, please visit your nearest branch". Knowing that I didnt apply for a credit, I checked with the credit bereu and to my surprise a credit check was conducted dating 11.11.2013. I called the call centre and spoke to the lady by the name of Emelie Mokoena who said she cannot picked anything on the system that suggest that an application for a loan was done.

Can African Bank explain to me why the sms was sent to me and why they conducted a credit check on the 11.11.2013 without me knowing and the reason behind that.
