Short of explaining whe opening my check account

I order a Samsung, Galaxy S4 Mini on 5th November 2013 and received a sms to confirm "thank you for your smart device application - 19190W, which is currently being processed and we will advise your of the outcome shortly" and nothing heard further untill I phone today and find out "apparently I cannot appy for that, cos i did not have any debit orders that FNB would transfer for me from my old bank and for this i can only apply after 3 months". when i opened my cheq account nobody explain to me that "if there is no debit orders for FNB to transfer for me, I then cannot apply for any smart devices and then sign a 'term and condition'". this is unbelieveble, i cannot believe it. It seems like i changed to the wrong bank, first it was my online banking, then it was finally resolved and now this about my ordering a smart device.
