My FNB Platinum Cheque account has been bombarded with unauthorised electronic Debit Orders.
I cancel these DO's online (R5) and after completing the telephone banking ID verification my reverse request is actioned.
My branch advises there is nothing they can do - they accept ALL electronic DO instructions without verification!!! How is this possible? My 4 authorised DO's are personally signed by me - what is the point if FNB pays anybody without a security check?
Today I completed yet another online STOP for R399 and have been advised that reversal will no longer be done through telephonic instruction. I must drive 45km to my branch, wait in the queue to fill in a form to refund money that has been out of my account!
The FNB dept does not recognise this as? I have now opened a new acct & will close my old one as FNB is unable to provide the necessary security systems to protect my acct.
What is FNB doing to protect their clients? After 3 mnths of this - the 'I'm sorry' response is unacceptable & if my new acct is hacked I will change banks. I have all the necessary online security recommended - which is pointless if the BASICS are not in place.
