I had a ABSA Platinum Cheque account and after not using it for a while i dessided that i would close the account, I brought the account up to date and went into the Phalaborwa branch and asked them to close it. I was told it is closed!!!
a few months later the bank's legal deparment called me and said i need to pay an outstanding amount of about R5000 on my cheque account, i told them i closed the account. They then said they would look into it. Nothing happened and after getting more calls and me explaining the situation to everyone that called i just decided to pay the amount, the person told me that as soon as the account is up to date the account will be closed. about R5000!!! I think this happened once more and then i just decided not to pay anything else into the account. About a month ago I got another call from legal, same story and they said they would look into it. I then got a sms thanking me for the payment. i thought they had sorted it out and the sms said i will get a refund. But it was SARS making payment into that account. so i lost another R5000. ABSA does not want to help me so what do i do now???
STAY AWAY D FROM ABSA, THEY ONLY WANT TO TAKE YOUR MONEY!!
