SBIB CANCELS INSURANCE WITHOUT WRITTEN NOTICE?

Recently Standard Bank Insurance Brokers called to advise that the underwriter of my HouseOwners All Risks policy would no longer be covering Short Term Insurance and they were giving notice that my policy would be cancelled as at end of October 2013. I insisted on at least 30 days written notice from SBIB and/or the underwriter before I would accept that my cover was cancelled.
SBIB then asked if they could re-quote me under Standard Bank's own insurance company.
I agreed, meantime, that SBIB should quote me for two separate options, so that I could decide. They requested my details telephonically and I refused, indicating they should use my personal details, which they already have, to send the quotes by mail.
To date I HAVE RECEIVED NO QUOTES, but have received a Renewal Letter, from SBIB, with the present underwriter, as from 01 December 2013?
Confused, I tried to get clarification from SBIB, but got put on hold for 10mins when requesting a Manager, so I disconnected.
Today I contacted the underwriter, who advised they do and will still do Short Term Insurance.
Why are SBIB lying to their clients? To sell STANDARD insurance? Who can resolve this problem?
