I'm trying to buy a property as a first time homeowner - the home loan application was done through Cleo Mbatha at Sunninghill branch who is an absolute superstar and managed to organise this for me from application to final grant within 9 days.
Subsequent to this I was put onto a broker Clint Butler from Sunninghil branch for the ABSA life insurance policy - mandatory as part of the home loan - this is where the nightmare started. I received a quote for the life insurance on 26 September, I accepted and sent through the application on 27 September, it was only on the 18th October that I was notified I could go for the necessary blood tests which I complied with within 3 hours. It is now the 28th October and there is still no news with regards to the life insurance policy, the bond origination attorneys have now been ready to lodge documents for three weeks and the entire house transfer is hinging on this life insurance policy. Everytime I phone the branch and ask for Clint - he's either in a meeting or gone home for the day or unavailable. How can you manage to organise a home loan from start to finish in 10 days and its now been a month on the life insurance and still no news?!
