Bank in SA get your information from the UK!!!

After almost 10 years of receiving generally poor service from the Standard Bank non resident centre and struggling with the restrictions they (and only this bank) place on my banking activities today has driven me too far.
22 days ago I requested information about my account which I need for the South African Immigration Department. After several calls and numerous emails I have today been told that if I want information about the money I deposited in this account I must contact the overseas banks where the money came from!!!
How crazy and totally ridiculous is this, they received the money by international bank transfer and charged me a whacking amount for receiving it. But they can't provide me with formal documentation that it came from overseas and it's taken 2 phone calls and 3 emails to get a simple letter stating my account is a non-resident account.
Foreigners beware do not give your money to these people they treat you with no respect and act as if they are doing you a favour.
One exception Charlotte has been great and really tried to help FNB should snap her up she deserves to work for a decent bank!!!
