I visited Table View FNB to deposit money into my account. The teller then refuses to accept a R200 note on the basis that it is an older note (in extremely good condition mind you). I then object and she calls the so called manager. This manager then tells me the same thing and expects me to drive to the reserve bank in Cape Town to exchange the note. I then refuse to accept this as they have to accept any legal tender telling them that if they persist I shall lodge a complaint and close my account with FNB. The 'manager' then says and I quote: "Go ahead, that's fine". Just so we are clear, FNB would rather lose a customer and have them close their account than assist them. I was on the verge of changing our accounts to FNB. Well with this attitude I'll keep our accounts where they are thank you. Oh and Mr Manager, let me remind you that I am an account holder at FNB (not for much longer though) and therefore a customer. Go read up about what a customer is as it seems you have forgotten. FNB pretends to 'help you' and make your life easier, but in fact they just make it more difficult. I bought an item at a nearby shop with that same R200 note and it was accepted by the way.
