As a VERY good customer of Mugg and Bean (I visit a Mugg and Bean on a daily basis) I am very disappointed and shocked at what I experienced at the Kolonade shop. Upon receiving my bill I proceeded with paying with a R100 note I received from a ATM. The waiter took the money and after a while returned and explained that she is unable to accept the money as it is an old R100 note and not a "Mandela" note. I asked to see the manager as I only have such R100 notes on me and find it unacceptable for a shop to be picky on what kind of money they do and don't accept. She again took the money and again returned, this time with the change BUT without the manager I asked to see. I waited for a while and then decided to rather leave as he was busy with a other table engaging in a very friendly conversation and clearly not interested in attending to my complaint. I find this kind of attitude unacceptable. Who appointed the manager of M&B to take up the job of taking "old non Mandela" notes out of circulation. Is't that the job of the bank?? I am shocked and embarrassed on how the situation was handled as everybody was looking at us as if we were trying to pay with falsified money!!
