Outsurance Does Not Pay, Literally

A word of warning to Outsurance customers...

I recently had my car broken into and laptop and camera. I reported this to the Outsurance call centre, which was as pleasant an experience as advertised in their tv advert "bending over backwards for you".

I then get contacted by an independent assessor, who makes a round trip of 300 km and grills me for 2 hours to make sure that I am not a common criminal. Later that day I get a call from the assessors office to tell me that Outsurance will not be paying me anything. The reason for the refusal to pay was that these items where not specified as an "Out-and About" despite being included in the total sum insured.

When I told the assessor that in light of this, I would be shifting my 3 Outsurance policies elsewhere, I get told that I should wait as he needs to talk to people. I have been an Outsurance customer for many years and can't understand why I should be talking to an assessor on these matters, least of all to "horse trade".

Be aware that the only reason that Outsurance " bends over backwards" for you is to look up you clothing to you later.
