My husband banks with Standard Bank for years, he is a prominent man in his field and has never been so embarrassed as he was last week. We went buy groceries and his card declined, not because there's no funds but because Std bank blocked the card. When we asked why, we were refered from the one dept to the next who quite frankly all did not know what they were doing or taking about. Eventually he goes into the branch and they have the card reinstated and apologied profusely for the inconvenience. The next day, we go to hire a car and the card declines, we call Std bank and they say that its because the account is closed!!! then they say that they reinstated the card with the incorrect account number!!! Whos fault is that? My husband went into the branch the next day again and spoke to the branch manager, he called the call center and they say its a FICA issue!!! I mean, really. How much more of this can a person take? Does anyone at Std Bank know what they're doing? Can they fix the card and the account without hiccups? It was such appauling service from the call cente. We will never want to deal with a bank like you again.
