On September 27, I went to pay my husbands credit card at Cape Gate.
This morning we got an sms notification that the account has not been paid, luckily I had not filled away all the payments yet and had it with me so I could fax the proof of payment to them.
When I called the number 021 4312500 the person on the other end of the receiver had no manner of speaking and when I questioned her about why she was giving me attitude; her response was " Listen I am busy and you can call back later to ask why you received the sms. The sms was sent out to random people, if you know you have paid, why are you going on"
Firstly Standard Bank; if that is the tone you address all your customers in then I am afraid you will be losing more business than you are gaining. What the lady on the other end of the telephone should have said was "Mrs Van Der Schyff thank you for the payment, unfortunately the system sends out random smses kindly ignore the sms and we apologize for the inconvenience caused. When I asked to speak to a line manager she told me there is no one to speak to me and she put the telephone down in my ear! Very peeved off customer who will soon be switching to another bank!
