I went onto the FNB website to get insurance for my vehicle in September last year. I contacted the number provided and I finalized the policy on the 10-09-2012. Everything was good and I was happy with my policy. Last week Thursday 26-09-2013 I went onto the website again to get the contact details for the Insurance dep so that I could update my residential address. I was told that I was through to FNB Direct Insurance which is apparently a new thing and my policy is with FNB Insurance Brokers and my policy had not been transferred over. I was advised to contact FNB Insurance Brokers which I did. I was then told that the underwriters was no longer Santam but Auto & General so they had to revise my policy. I had been paying about R400 per month this past year and now I was quoted over R700! I cancelled the policy because I cannot pay over R700 per month for a car that is only valued at R30000. Then I called FNB Direct back and they quoted me about R400 again which I was happy with but then they tell me that I need to pay a joining fee of R250! This is not fair. As a client, I called FNB for insurance and I did not ask for these changes. In all fairness, I would like my R250 back.
