Standard Bank
If you can save you may not borrow

I applied for a loan and supplied all documentation. The process took a while, but within 3 weeks I was answered. "Loan declined, Affordability", there was a number to call for more info. I called the number and the Call Centre agent (name unknown) confirmed "loan declined, affordability". During the conversation I was told there is no-one I can talk to as no-one would take my call other than the Call Centre, and all they can tell me is "loan declined, affordability". I asked, if as it is shown on my pay slip, I can save R2000 a month, why can I not get a loan with a repayment of around R800 a month. I was told, "because you save you cannot afford the loan" . also I was told of my accounts, I have a bond, no other hp or contractual agreements, other than school fees, so i asked which accounts and was told "the ones you have". That the loan was declined is a bit of a sore point, but the fact the call centre had absolutely no more information than my sms and the fact no-one would talk me is sad. Standard bank wants business, they advertise to get business, but then this is how they conduct themselves. An e-mail to Gontse early this morning has produced no answer as yet...
