My husband bought a new Volvo at the end of August. Insured upon dispatch by Miway. Premiums to be debited on the 15 of every month. The first debit was meant to include the pro rata period.
Unfortunately for him, he was involved in an accident within the first two weeks. He submitted a claim to Miway, who then assigned one of their Assessors to the case.
The assessor worked on this matter for two weeks and even managed to get repair quotes. Suddenly early this week, Miway refused to proceed. Claiming that he was not covered in that period. Even sent him a letter that he must sign to withdraw the claim. Even went as far to say if he proceeds and loses out, he risks a ban from insurance cover and finance for five years.
Why did it take them almost two weeks to notice that he was not covered even sending the assessor to do all the investigations?
Why did they initialy confirm cover when he got the car if it was not so?
He had requested that all premiums plus the pro rata should be done on the 15 but they did not and chose to debit his account on an incorrect date. This cannot be blamed on him after the fact. We now sit with exorbitent car repairs for a brand new car plus car loan.
