Is this the jackpot of bad service?

More than 5 months after my house was severely damaged by a hailstorm it is still not completely fixed! The short version of my story is; the hailstorm occurred on 12 April - meeting with assessor on 18 April - damages were; 90% of the ceilings replaced, all ceilings & interior walls repainted, 50% of light fittings & plugs were affected and more than half of the woolen carpets were soaked under 2cm of muddy water - the ceilings, walls and electrical fittings took 2 weeks to do and were eventually fixed early in July - then saga with the carpets started - despite my warnings that it won't work and my proposal of going for a cheaper and more practical solution that will benefit both Santam and me, it was decided to first clean the carpets and if that does not work revisit the replacing option - the cleaning was done, and done again in two areas of the house and it was not successful - then Santam suggested that the undervelt be replaced (to fix the water/mud stains on the carpets?) - then last week after 5 months of fooling around, the final shock - Santam 'rejects' the claim because there are no more water stains on the carpets and they are too old?? - My full report is 5 pages!
