Few years ago, I was you, stupid and received the wrong advice.
I was in a car accident, and the other party didn't have insurance, so we exchanged details and off I went, expecting them to call later to make an arrangement. Instead I was phoned by Santam agent demanding I need to pay up. In my stupidity I agreed without signing anything.
Fast forward 3 or 4 years later, and the payments stopped at the same time FNB redid their internet banking. I wasnt aware of this until Santam called me up demanding money. This time around however I am a bit older and not falling for these scamsters anymore.
The fact is, the other party didn't have insurance at the time of the accident, otherwise I would have requested their details. How can a insurance company take on this new client after the accident and then deal with it, but when I call them as a test they do not allow this?
I don't expect this problem to be resolved, but feel others should know that big companies still do unethical cheating like this, at least it was one employee working for this company.
