Since ABSA branches are incapable of cancelling credit cards at the branch I had to call in on 03-Sep-2013 to cancel my card. The consultant seemed more interested in convincing me to stay on as a credit customer instead of doing what I asked of her. I was informed that I owed R19.63 which was interest charges considering I havent used my Credit Card in about 4 months and the card will only be cancelled when this amount is settled. I settled the amount the very same evening. Debbie then mentioned she will put a reminder for my card to be cancelled on 04-Sep-2013 and I will then receive an email on 05-Sep-2013 confirming the cancellation of my credit card. To date, I have received no response and I know that inefficient card division will come back with lame excuses and fake apologies.
Please can ABSA focus on customer service rather than making Barclays more rich!!!
