My broker, Multi Insurance Brokers, had submitted a cancellation request for my Santam short-term policy on 24/07/13. Santam had still debited my bank account on 01/08/13 for approx. R1740 as premium collection. Now, six weeks later, Santam has still not refunded me. I need to know why I am not being refunded and when this will be concluded. My policy number was 484/720/84620180411.
Fortunately my broker has sent me documented proof showing that the policy had been cancelled from 01/08/2013 which I'd included in my escalation to the Ombudsman for short-term insurance.
Worse still, Santam's telephone complaint line advertised on their website says, "Sorry, your call cannot be processed". Very scary indeed!
