In July I got a call from an Old Mutual consultant who offered me a policy. I told him that I was more interested in a unit trust. He then gave me different options that Old Mutual had. I then said that I was still comparing different unit trusts, but I would not be taking one immediately.
He then offered to send me a contract that explained how it worked. I said that is fine as long as I am not expected to commit to anything. He said its just for me to see how it worked and if I were to be interested at a later stage, I could then sign and send it back to them.
He then asked for all my details. He continued to ask for my banking details, that is when I asked him what he needed them for. He said he has to have them to complete the application so he could send me the contract. I still refused but he kept on insisting. I then finally gave them to him. He said that there was no way that money could be debited out of my account, without having signed that contract. I said okay.
On 1 September 2013, an amount of R455 was debited from my account. Now please tell me how this was possible when I not given Old Mutual any permission take money from. I demand a refund. Duduzile Xaba
