Do NOT take travel insurance with AIG

I took travel insurance on 22/02/2013 for my ski holiday in Europe. During my holiday i was involved in a ski accident and had numerous medical expenses amounting to over R10 000. I have kept all the documentation and kept the Insurance company updated during the time i was receiving treatment. I have numerous emails from the trip which show that they were updated at all points. They confirmed that once i returned i could claim for all my medical expenses.

I have all the records and have phoned the call centre 5 times, every time they ask me to email my claims form with all documentation which i have emailed upwards of ten times. I have never got a reply. The call centre assistant, Warren Fereiera eventually forwarded my claim to the department and i am yet to hear from them.

This has been outstanding for months and I have never received worse service. The reason you take travel insurance is for circumstances like this. I will NEVER take this travel insurance again because I have received nothing in return. I feel like i have just given them my money as a donation. This has been a shocking experience and i suggest no one ever uses this travel insurance.
