Rejection of travel insurance claim of 70 year old

Noel and Mary, (pensioners, my parents) were given a holiday of a lifetime for their 50th wedding anniversary from my sister and I. They had always wanted to go to Las Vegas, so off they went for their 50th wedding anniversary. A holiday of a lifetime that turned into a nightmare.

When purchasing the air tickets with the ABSA credit card, they received free ABSA travel insurance to the value of approx R1 000 000.00 each.

Due to their age, 65 and 70 years old, they purchased additional "top up" travel insurance from ABSA Insurance Company.

9 days into the holiday, Noel had a CEREBRAL VASCULAR ACCIDENT.

What is that? Exactly. If I had to say a STROKE then you would better know what I am referring to.

Well you best have a dictionary near you when purchasing insurance from ABSA as they use technical/medical jargon during the telephonic sales conversation.

Once Noel was rushed to hospital by the Las Vegas emergency services, the travel insurance documents were submitted to the hospital. Within hours, this claim was rejected by ABSA. The excuse given was that Noel had suffered a CEREBRAL VASCULAR ACCIDENT i.e. a stroke and this is not covered by the insurance if you are 70 years.
