A few months ago I submitted a report about ABSA who continued to lock my account as a result of FICA documentation. The long and the short of it is that ABSA's warehouse burned down and through that lost my FICA documents (which the about.)
For a few months I had to submit replacement documents to them, and every time something went wrong, like an employee misplacing the documents, then the employee resigning, then them not submitting the documents that they received, etc. And every time the way they notified me about the problem was by locking my bank account. This apparently works better than a courtesy phone call.
After a long, protracted nightmare which saw my account locked on no fewer than five different occasions, I received notification from Nqobile that all is finally sorted.
It turns out apparently not. Last night after a function in Sandton City I tried to draw money to pay for parking, but my account was locked again. And I had to borrow money from a stranger. Today they said "sorry" and it was a systems error.
ABSA bank exemplifies an organisation that doesn't care about its customers. It is the worst institution I have ever dealt with. DON'T deal with them
