First of all I experienced with Standard bank, with which I was notified by SMS??? Surely a phone call should be made in order to cancel all accounts! So I call where I wait 10min for the call to be answered, I eventually get through where I get told I need to call another number, so I do so, where I hold for years again to get told to call Yet ANOTHER number. On the 3rd attempt I finally get through to someone who can help to cancel my accounts. Accounts are cancelled and I request that a new cheque and credit card get delivered to the clearwater branch. More than a week later I get no response so I call again to find out that a cheque card was not ordered and the new credit card is sitting in their Fourways branch, after I had requested that it was to be delivered to Clearwater mall branch... I have given up and proceeded to change to FNB where I have received exponential service. I phone one number and they can assist, cards are delivered to my door aswell and the phone me to keep me informed! It was faster to open an account with FNB than to wait for replacement cards from Standard bank. I have spoken to many people who are with Standard bank, and are all unhappy.
