I had a cheque acc with FNB that got cancelled at the end of July & I understand & accept that. I owe them R860 in unpaid monthly charges. I went to Sandton Branch & I believe my query would've been resolved, I would've paid the amount & my account would've been reopened & working again. It didn't happen because I forgot the proof of address. Then I left & went to get it then went to the Alexandra Branch, stood in a queue as usual where 1 person sits with a consultant for a min of 40min. When my turn came I sat & gave the consultant my things, told her I wanted to pay & get it reopened. Then she tells me, their statements which they sent to monthly aren't considered as proof of address & that my ID isn't going to work. All of the effort I made to try & do what's right & still no help & tomorrow they are going to say I owe them & am not willing to reach some sort of an agreement with them. The way they treat customers who don't have fat bank balances is utterly disgudting & the Alex branch has a poor customer assistance. All of this took place on Thursday 08/08/13.
