Approximately 3 years ago I received a letter from Nedbank informing me that my account had been dormant and would duly be closed if I didn't reactivate by making a deposit. There was a minimal amount in the account and as I accepted this was the industry standard procedure, I expected my account to be closed in due time. However, Nedbank continued to charge me banking fees every month to the effect of R1800! I have been plagued by collection agencies for this 'bad debt' for over a year now and even when I explain that I went in to the Rosebank Branch to sort this out last year (where I was told that Nedbank had no record of this account and could not help me) I now receive threatening sms's that I will be served summons at my workplace. Please help me understand how bank fees on a closed account can amount to over R1800 and also how several different so-called law firms can harass someone to this extent for credit I never applied for nor consented to
