Bad service from start to finish

I contacted the call center on 4 June 2013 and spoke to Kabelo regarding full payment of my diners credit card. I was advised to fax proof of payment to him and the matter will be resolved. Surprisingly my very next statement still indicated an amount outstanding and further interest. I contacted the call center again on 9 July 2013 and spoke to Tumi who stated that she cannot help but will send an email to Kabelo advising him to contact me. He did not call. On 11 July 2013 I spoke to Khomotso who again referred me to Kabelo. Kabelo confirmed that the fax number that proof of payment was sent to was correct. However, claimed he did not receive it even though I provided him with the date and time sent as displayed on transmission slip. Finally scanned and emailed documents to him. Now I have been informed that he can confirm payment was made on 26 April 2013 but cannot reverse the interest charges. Question: how can you charge interest on an amount that was in your account albeit you did not know the account holders number due to an error in the transfer thereof. The bottom line is the money was in Diners account, what is the interest for now that you are aware that account paid.
