Second Hand Parts and lousy service

My car was in an accident on the 13th of June and was reported to dial direct, it was then towed to Panelbeaters to be fixed. It took almost a week before the job was authorised to be fixed. My problem is this when the car was sent for fixing they called me told me that the rear axel was damadged and it would take a while to get the part, I had to phone dial direct everytime to follow up, never received any calls from them with feedback, eventually after they got the part a few days later called the Panelbeaters myself to be told that they found additional faults and had to get more parts which they have done. My car was supposed to be ready 15 July, 16 July get a call from the Panelbeaters telling me that the car will take longer, the insurance authorised a second hand axel and the car was now not passing wheel allignment tests so now the new axel will arrive this afternoon. I have been inconvenienced waiting for second hand parts for my car when they could have had an original part in one day?? please explain, can you also explain why you try to save on parts especially something like an Axel, I am annoyed and will go to newspapers with this...
