Incompetency in Understanding Policy Instruction

Both myself and my wife's lives were insured on a Discovery Life policy. I also have Vitality linked to my profile. I have inquired whether it's possible to have my wife removed from the Vitality, having only me on it since she doesn't use the benefits. I was told the business rules require as both to be on. In my opinion that is a stupid move - because that forced me to simply remove her from the policy and take out a Momentum life policy for her, so that I am the only life insured.
This is where it all went wrong. I sent through a clear instruction via my broker in writing that I want my wife, and only her to be removed. They then sent through confirmation that my entire policy is in the process of being cancelled - completely incorrect. My broker followed up and made sure they only remove my wife.
This was then correctly done, but looking at my online profile today, I have noticed my entire Vitality benefit has been removed without me requesting it, and without warning or any confirmation from Discovery.
Why does it have to be such a mission?!
