I requested a letter of authority to travel outside of South Africa from Standard Bank in order to visit our family in Botswana. They denied the request saying: account is fairly new and no SBSA track record as yet. Risk is deemed high...
I find this unacceptable for the following reasons!
The vehicle is insured in FULL - therefore Standard Bank has NO LIABILITY what so ever!
I have not failed to make a payment and even though this account might be new, my credit record speaks for itself!
We are planning this trip to visit our parents. I do not feel Standard Bank has the right from keeping us from our loved ones because they deem taking the vehicle over the border 'high risk'.
The crime rate in Botswana is MUCH lower than in South Africa. If Botswana is deemed High Risk, then Standard Bank shouldn't let me move the vehicle out of my garage in South Africa!
I feel that by declining my request, Standard Bank is blatantly infringing on my good name, which is totally unacceptable.
I am utterly disgusted in Standard Bank, and the way which they have treated me! My resolution is to never deal with Standard Bank again and to warn all to avoid Standard Bank at all costs!
