I received a call today from Absa bank advising me that my credit card account is in arrears. This highly confuses me as I am billed via debit order every month and I have sufficient funds in my account so how could the debit not go off? I was advised, rather rudely, by the consultant, Gershan, that even though I bank with Standard Bank, it is not Absa's duty to debit the account but Standard Banks duty to pay the credit account from my account. That makes no sense at all. I then called my bank viz Standard Bank and enquired the reason for the debit order not going through. I was advised that there is no problem with my account & the problem with Absa, ref no for my call was: 35009579. I refuse to accept that my account is in arrears nor will I accept to pay finance charges for something the bank didn't do properly. I did not even receive a notification advising me the debit order did not go through. What sort of bank is Absa with inefficient service like this?
