24Hour Mobility Cellphone Insurance
Rejection of claim

An MTN consultant sold me insurance with 24 hour Mobility when I upgraded my phone to a Samsung Galaxy SII. To start off with, I was given the incorrect premium by the consultant. I fought this, but later gave up as the matter was going nowhere. Now my phone packs up and my claim is rejected. When I upgraded and got the phone, the MTN consultant knew I was not going to use the phone and that my mother was. She failed to inform me that the policy would lapse if another SIM was inserted into the phone. Since then the family have upgraded 2 other phones, with the same consultants at the same MTN branch, and taken 24 hour Mobility Insurance. On both occasions the consultants knew that other SIM cards was going to be used in the phones, but yet they did not tell us that the insurance would lapse if this happened. Also, on both these occasions we were not given copies of the "Terms and Conditions" to read. On the last occasion the phone was upgraded to a Blackberry Z10, and the consultant actually assisted in moving data bundles around, cancelling it on the one and initiating it on the other!!
If you want to sell something, ensure the consultants know what they are doing!!
