Over the last two months my account has been frozen without prior notice four times. Every time ABSA claims that the lock is due to outstanding FICA documents even though I have been into the branch numerous times to confirm that everything is in order. Once I confirm this they unlock my account. This is purely an administrative error on their part. A recurring administrative error of this type is in my mind denial of service.

This always happens on a Sunday which is extremely inconvenient as ABSA comes to a complete standstill on Sundays. There is no branch or head office to contact.
This situation has put me in many uncomfortable scenarios as you might imagine.

I cannot understand how these people can be trusted to manage individual and business finances when mistakes like this are made.

They really need to get their bureaucratic systems in check if they want to compete in an increasingly fast paced world where clients are used to receiving 24/7 service that is on point.
I will be closing my account with ABSA bank on Monday when they join the rest of us, as I can no longer afford to be randomly cut off from my funds.
