In May 2013, we sold our property with FNB Quicksales and signed an AOD to pay off the shortfall over an extended period at around R6800 per month. We made it clear that we will make manual payments and that the bank had no authority to debit any of our other accounts for these payments. This was in our written agreement we signed and which was accepted to the bank prior to the tranfer of the property being finalised. We have made all of the monthly payments on time as per the agreement, and around 29/30 May My husband received a phone call from FNB Legal Dept, in which it was confirmed that we had a signed AOD, would make manual payments and that the bank had NO authority to debit any other FNB account in our name. This was accepted by the caller and she updated her system to reflect this information. In spite of this, and in spite of being up to date on payments, my checking account was debitted R5000 today by FNB Homeloans legal. I wasted an hour trying to resolve this without success. FNB has violated our agreement with them, and have effectively money they have no right to. I want it paid back immediately and a written confirmation they wont try debit my account again
