Protect their interest and deny customer's one

Recently the element of our cottage geyser stopped working. After few calls, we realised that the element warranty was only a year.

First, we were surprised that the life-time of an element in a geyser (this geyser is not routinely used) is less than 2 year. It must be bad quality!
Secondly, why the element warranty is only 1 year when the rest of the geyser warranty is 5 year? Our guess was that Plumblink/Kwikots (Momentum supplier) plays on the quality of the element to decrease the price and be more competitive than the other suppliers.
Thirdly, since the element of a geyser is not insured by Momentum, it is not their business if the element is faulty!

We contacted Wayne Love, a manager at Momentum. We did not like his attitude. We were requested for information about this element apparently SABS approved (like the quality policy of this element). He was just arguing about the "limited control environment" at our place and ask us if we want to open a claim (which will cost us an excess).

This element story tells us that Momentum are not taking care of the customer when it is about the choice of the supplier.
