I received an sms yesterday stating that my bank loan is overdue. I do not have a home loan or any loan with standard bank, so I took time out of my busy day to contact them to inform them that they have the incorrect telephone number and instructed them to remove my cell phone number from this record, which they apologised for and confirmed that they had deleted!!! Well... today I have received another sms from Standard bank stating the my home loan is due TOMORROW!! Standard bank, get your facts in order. I can't wait for the Protection of Personal Information Bill to come into effect, because then you will be forced to ensure that you have the correct details on your systems, as well as to inform me as to why it is that my cell phone number is on your system, relating to a loan that is not mine. Clearly you have a long way to go in terms of preparing for compliance with this Bill - best you get a move on!!!
