I sold furniture on behalf of a company on the 21st of May this year. the person buying it from me paid and the money reflected in my account immediately. After the person buying the goods collected them I received another for R14, 800.00 already cleared in my account and available. the person then phoned me asking for a refund. I then realized there was a problem and went into my branch immediately. they informed me that is was cheques that was paid into my account and they gave me something called a U states for cheques to clear in my account immediately. this is an old and i never give goods if the money doesn't reflect in my account. I just need to know who should be held responsible for the U States on my account. I now lost R18, 000.00 I don't have, and the department said there is nothing they can do for me. after banking with Standard bank for numerous years this is the response I get.
