Lost foreign exchange

I wanted to borrow money from a family member who lives in the USA. The funds were successfully transferred to Capitec, but as I classified the funds as a loan, Capitec were unable to release them to me (SA Reserve Bank rules, not Capitec's fault).

2013-05-02 I instructed Capitec please to return the funds to the USA. I was informed that it would take 2-3 working days.

2013-05-21 (today) After making multiple telephone calls and receiving multiple assurances, the funds have still not arrived back in the USA.

My biggest concern is that the returned funds, once located, are going to have devalued due to the drop in the R/$ exchange rate, all because Capitec was unable to return the funds promptly. So from unsuccessfully trying to borrow money from my family, I will now owe them the difference anyway.
