Long story. During Oct 2012 I submitted a Disability Claim on behalf of my wife. She was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease. She was totally disabled. Old Mutual took forever to process the claim. Forever issues with outstanding documents, but if I didn't keep calling them, they would never have informed me of what they require. Never the less, they took so long to complete the process, that my wife eventually passed away during Dec 2012 without enjoying any disability benefits.
I then submitted a Death Claim in Jan 2013. Same story. Nothing is being done other than dilley, dallying around and ticking me off. Various emails between me, my Brokers and Old Mutual is achieving nothing. On one of my queries, wrt the unpaid Disability Claim, they told me "We regard that matter as closed". I still think they owe me that money.
At this point in time, The OM Policy is ceded to Nedbank for bond security, (that is the policy on my name). The Policy on my wife's life is not ceded.
Now OM is sending me from pillar to post to do their work. OM can't find out what is ceded and what not. They require Nedbank to issue proof. That's nonsence. I want the Policy paid out immediately.
