During January I purchased a number of Groupon Vouchers, which included a cooking course at Karma and movie tickets at Ster Kinekor.
I successfully redeemed 6 of the 8 Ster Kinekor vouchers. The remaining two have been redeemed by somebody else. I checked Groupon to see if there was a problem and I noticed that the Karma cooking class as well the remaining movie tickets were redeemed. I further received confirmation from Karma that my voucher had been redeemed. I sent an email to customer support and then followed up with a phone call today.
The customer support agent has told me that Groupon will not take any responsibility as it is my responsibility to lock my computer when I am away from it. A funny comment considering that I work from home and am the ONLY person with access to my computer at any time.
I am very worried about Groupon's attitude and it appears to me that this is blatant. I am very worried about having my banking details saved on their web portal because clearly this is not secure.
The least Groupon could do is to investigate the matter to determine whether it is an isolated event or whether this has happened to more people out there.
