About a week ago I received a call from a Vodacom sales consultant. She told me she was offering me a special promotion to reduce the cost of data on my contract.
After confirming that I was spending R149 per month for a Gig of data, she told me there was a special Promo on for R69 a Gig, with the only catch being that it would be a 24 month contract (rather than month to month).
Obviously I was quite happy to pay less than half for the same data. The sales woman said she could sign me up for the service and I would need to manually cancel my current data, which I did. I asked several times to confirm that this data would be loaded onto my normal account, and was told this was the case.
It turns out this data can only be loaded into a separate contract - which I found out after trying to check my data balance and seeing no new Gig anywhere. So not only was the data not loaded to my cell, after contacting Vodacom I was told it could not be loaded to a cell and was a stand alone account with its own number.
I have cancelled the service but I am disgusted by the way I was misled into signing up for a service I have no interest in.
